“My undergraduate experience at Nogales is always in the back of my mind. It had a huge impact on me.

I still refer back to what I learned throughout my time there. I always felt at home! The Elementary Education Program at Nogales gave me the opportunity to study and also apply what I learned in the field. I had so much support from staff, instructors and mentors. Throughout the program, I did encounter challenges but working through those challenges to reach success is what made me feel ready for the workforce.

I am very thankful and extremely proud to be a the University of Arizona Nogales graduate. I am very happy for the opportunity to now give back to my community and make a difference in others’ lives.”

Having graduated from Nogales in May 2017, Margarita continues to serve Santa Cruz County. Maggie, as she is better known, completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Currently, she works for Patagonia School District as an English Teacher.

Maggie has the distinction of being the University of Arizona Nogales’ first student worker. She served in this capacity for close to two years and later moved on to work for the local cooperative extension of the University of Arizona.

Maggie is a committed, responsible and motivated educator. She sees herself teaching for many more years to come, and thoroughly enjoys working with the local youth.
